

File On Time

You should file your tax return by the deadline especially if you owe tax and you cannot pay your full tax bill. If you don’t file on time you may be charged a failure-to-file penalty. We encourage you to file on time so you will know how much tax you will owe. You will have until the deadline to either pay in full or enter into an installment agreement to make monthly payments to the IRS.



Free Tax Prep

The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the
Elderly (TCE) Programs offer free tax help for taxpayers who qualify at thousands of sites across the country. Find the nearest free tax return preparation site using the VITA site locator tool or the AARP site locator tool. There are thousands of available locations across the U.S. that can help you get your taxes prepared for free.



e-Filing Help

Free e-filing is a component of the services provided by our VITA site. E-filing is highly recommended so you can receive your tax refund much quicker than mailing a tax return if you have a checking or savings account. If you don’t, not a problem! You will simply receive your refund in the mail. If you choose to file your own tax return, you can find many resources available at IRS.GOV.

Free Tax Prep Services for the Community of Lubbock

The Coalition of Community Assistance Volunteers (CCAV) offers free income tax preparation and e-filing services through its Income Tax Assistance (ITA) program. The ITA program is available to individuals and families with incomes below certain limits. Services are provided by IRS-certified volunteers who are trained to prepare tax returns according to IRS guidelines. The ITA program is a great way to get your taxes done for free, and it can help you get the maximum refund possible.

How We Serve Our Community

When tax season arrives, volunteers with CCAV’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program dedicate themselves to preparing hundreds of tax returns for West Texas residents in need. With the help of many community partners, these IRS-certified volunteers return over a million dollars to our community and save our co-workers, neighbors, and friends hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax preparation fees.
